OUR STORY

In a world shaped by technologies, the gesture of the hand — its technique, its imperfect precision — becomes more precious than ever. Women and men are capable of transforming raw materials into limited series or unique pieces. Those skilled hands weave, embroider, blow, and mold for hours - creating beauty through patience.

Mão - hand in portuguese - is a collective of curated artisans from around the world, working with sustainable and ancestral techniques to create collectible design pieces. Each piece celebrates the beauty of imperfections mixing vintage and contemporary codes. The curation is a result of a connection with diverse cultures, animated personalities and rediscovering the ancient habits and traditions.

Our mission is to highlight local talents, maintain and preserve cultural crafts passed from hand to hand, from generation to generation. Most importantly encourage creativity, and connexions across the world.

Founded by Marine Le Roy-Boucaud, Mão was born from a desire to slow down. After over a decade working in fashion and design buying— including roles at Smallable, Monoprix, and other leading creative companies — she felt called to reconnect with the essence of designing and handcrafters — the joy of craft, and the human relationships behind each object.

Her eye for detail was shaped from a very young age — through travels around the world, endless museum visits, and cherished sunday rituals mornings spent treasure-hunting at flea markets with her mother — a passion passed through generations. Driven by a desire to bring more meaning into the objects we live with, she set out to design her own — pieces that reflect both her eye and her values.
